Garage Floor Coating

Our concrete Epoxy, full broad cast flake coating system is typically a two day installation process, requiring the installers to come back the next morning to apply the top coat (Please note there is an accelerator available to allow for a 3 – 6 hour, one day installation).

The first day the concrete floor is “profiled”, in which any areas that have bond breaking stains (oil, grease, paint or other), dirt/contaminates or existing concrete sealers will be removed, as well as to open up the concretes pores for better material penetration. Bond breaking materials are removed by using degreasers, sanding or diamond grinding the surface, until the surface will allow water to penetrate.

Any cracks and divots will then be filled and sanded down. Lastly all areas around the garage that will not have Epoxy will be taped off (walls, driveways, cabinetry feet, HVAC, etc.). We will also tape off the entrance into the house to reduce orders into the home.

The epoxy application incorporates a proprietary wicking technology which allows it to absorb deep into concrete surfaces. This unique technology provides 3 times the adhesion of a standard epoxy installed over a profiled floor and will withstand over 8 lbs of MVE (moisture vapor emission) where others fail at 3 lbs.

The granite flake finish is created by blending vinyl paint chips (see color sample page) and broadcasting (like feeding chickens) until they saturate the primer coat. A typical installation would be to apply the epoxy over porous concrete and throw the flakes to rejection (about 55lbs of flake for a 2 car garage) within 45 minutes of applying.

The next day the installer will come back to scrape the loose flakes off and apply the clear topcoat. We offer 4 different Topcoats to choose from, 2 of them are below 10 VOC (Volatile Organic Chemical) and 2 of them are Low Odor and Non-Flammable

All of these topcoats will not yellow, are hot tire resistant and extremely abrasion resistant. These ultra low VOC topcoats help provide a solution for areas that are environmentally conscious (reduce the effect on Global Warming) as well as areas that can not allow a solvent based system. All of these systems are also compliant with the new strict SCAQMD rules that become law July 2006. See the chart below for the pros and cons for each system. This range of floor coatings designed specifically for the garage floor is just one of the best garage floor and industrial coatings available.

I should have contacted you long before I did about getting racks for my garage. Now that they are all installed I am saving $100.00 per month by not paying for outside storage. Your help in designing what areas to place the racks was great. The addition of the utility hooks has made it possible to get those things like ski, umbrellas, and fishing poles off of the floor. Thanks again for your fast and affordable service.
